MoHAP discusses enhancing healthcare cooperation with Sierra Leone counterpart

ABU DHABI, 5th February, 2022 (WAM) — The Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) has discussed with the Sierra Leone counterpart ways of enhancing cooperation in the health care sector, exchanging experiences in the training field, strengthening cooperation in public health.

During a meeting held at the ministry premises in Dubai, Dr. Mohammad Salim Al Olama, Undersecretary of the MoHAP, discussed with Austin Demby, Minister of Health and Sanitation of Sierra Leone, mechanisms of transferring digital knowledge and expertise, and forming working groups to discuss opportunities for signing bilateral agreements.

The meeting was attended by Dr. Hussain Abdul Rahman Al Rand, Assistant Undersecretary for the Public Health Sector, Rashid Sesay, Ambassador of the Republic of Sierra Leone to the UAE.

While welcoming the visiting delegation, Al Olama highlighted the importance of the meeting in enhancing cooperation and developing health relations, emphasizing that the Ministry of Health is open to all health experiences in the world.

Al Olama briefed the guests on MoHAP’s achievements in digital health services and innovation while taking advantage of advanced technologies to support the future of health care, reflecting the government’s directions in the proactive confrontation of future changes in the health field.

He shed light on the ministry’s projects and initiatives and the efforts made in the prevention, health education, healthy nutrition, and examination programs in partnership with the private sector, highlighting the ministry’s vision to provide advanced health services and innovative solutions in health data management and health information systems development.

Expressing his gratitude and appreciation to the UAE for sending medical aid to back efforts of the health sector in his country, the Sierra Leone health minister affirmed his country’s desire to consolidate its cooperation with the UAE in the health field, adding that the meeting was a perfect opportunity to develop health relations between and explore opportunities to enhance bilateral cooperation.
