Mysterious Mars aurora lights were spotted by the Hope spacecraft of the Emirates Mars Mission program. This is a major discovery since other giant government-backed and independent space companies were not able to identify.

Aurora lights are quite common on Earth and other planets with planetary magnetic fields. However, their appearances on Mars are quite unusual, given that the Red Planet doesn’t have a strong gravitational pull.

“Observations of a stunning new type of Martian aurora by EMM’s Hope probe open up new areas for investigating Mars’ highly dynamic plasma environment,” said EMM via its official Twitter announcement.
Mysterious Mars Aurora Lights Spotted!
According to IFL Science‘s latest report, EMM’s space experts said that they first spotted the mysterious auroras on Mars after their Hope space probe successfully reached the Red Planet.

In this hand out image from Space Imaging taken by Space Imaging?s IKONOS satellite is Mars as it and the Earth reached their closest proximity in nearly 60,000 years August 26, 2003. This image was taken at 21:40 GMT (3:40 p.m. MDT) as IKONOS came out of the eclipse of the Earth and orbited over our planet?s northern pole.
Dr. Hessa Al Matroushi, one of the leading scientists of the Emirates Mars Mission, said that after they discovered that Mars also has its own discrete auroras, they decided to focus on them since they can lead to completely new space observations.
Now, EMM revealed that their spacecraft discovered more impressive things about the aurora lights on the Red Planet.
These are the long curving streams of energized electrons that are stretching across the day and night sides of the neighboring planet.

Other Mars’ Discoveries
While EMM focuses on the newly discovered auroras on the Red Planet, NASA’s InSight Rover was able to detect the biggest quake on Mars.
NASA Associate Administrator for Science, Thomas Zurbuchen, explained that the geo activity’s strength they recorded on the neighboring planet is Magnitude 5.
As of writing, they are still checking their findings regarding the massive Mars quake.
On the other hand, the international space union announced that its NASA InSight Mars Lander plans would soon be updated.
Meanwhile, the advanced NASA Mars Ingenuity Rover was able to complete its 23rd spaceflight.
