DUBAI, 2nd March, 2022 (WAM) — Noor Dubai Foundation has hosted the “2030 in Sight Live” event in collaboration with the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness (IAPB), an alliance for the global eye health sector.

Over 500 key stakeholders in the eye health community joined the hybrid event, held in Dubai World Trade Centre, alongside Dubai Health Forum.

The two-day event marks the start of a new shared ambition towards 2030 and achieving a world where eye care and rehabilitation services are accessible, affordable, and inclusive to all.

The conference is a key platform to launch the new IAPB sector strategy 2030 and engage the network of key opinion leaders across the eye health sector, including the UN Friends of Vision Group, the World Health Organisation, and speakers from allied sectors such as diabetes, education, and cross-cutting thought leaders in areas such as diversity, inclusion and sustainability.

The event offered delegates an engaging and interactive programme of panels, workshops, showcases, and opportunities for learning, networking, and getting involved in workgroups and task forces with clear objectives of delivering the new strategy.

On this occasion, Dr. Manal Taryam, CEO and Board Member of Noor Dubai Foundation, Chairperson Global Council on SDGs nexus model, said, “As a member of the IAPB for the last six years, we are honoured to be collaborating with them to bring together all key stakeholders, map the challenges and opportunities at every stage, and work together on integrated solutions across the network”.

Dr. Manal added, “Since the launch of Noor Dubai as a Foundation in 2010, over 30 million individuals worldwide have benefited from the Foundation’s treatment and preventive programmes. In addition to providing treatment to those in need, the Foundation’s programmes aim to empower communities by providing sustainable solutions through infrastructure improvement and human resource development”.

Chief Executive Officer of IAPB, Peter Holland, said, “We are delighted to be bringing people together from around the world to co-create the radical change and new partnerships needed to ensure that by 2030 no one experiences unnecessary or preventable sight loss and everyone can achieve their full potential.”
