Prabowo Subianto, chairman of the Gerindra Party and elected President for the 2024-2029 term, has announced that President Joko Widodo has appointed him to represent Indonesia at the upcoming Gaza Summit in Amman, Jordan on June 11, 2024. This announcement came after a meeting with former Governor and Deputy Governor of East Java, Khofifah Indar Parawansa-Emil Elestianto Dardak at his residence in South Jakarta on June 7.

“I have been tasked with representing Indonesia at the Gaza Summit in Amman, Jordan on June 11,” Prabowo stated. The Defense Minister revealed that President Jokowi had instructed Indonesia to be prepared to send a significant number of peacekeepers and field hospital personnel to operate in Gaza, with a focus on working alongside partners such as the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Prabowo has outlined key plans for Indonesia to aid the Palestinian people during the summit. “I will present Indonesia’s readiness to assist the Palestinian people during this event,” he emphasized. Additionally, Prabowo has engaged in discussions with the Secretary General of the United Nations and leaders from relevant regional countries to propose solutions for providing assistance from Indonesia to Palestine.

“I am in discussions with the Secretary General of the United Nations and regional leaders to finalize our offer of assistance,” Prabowo stated. Indonesia stands firm in its commitment to supporting Palestine and will actively participate in the Gaza Summit to reaffirm this dedication.
