‘Renewed Partnership Between Emirates and AIDA Cruises in Berlin’

by Dubaiforum

Emirates and AIDA Cruises have extended their partnership for an additional two seasons, signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to support Dubai’s cruise capacity growth efforts. The agreement, signed on the first day of ITB Berlin, was between Adnan Kazim, Deputy President and Chief Commercial Officer of Emirates, and Felix Eichhorn, President of AIDA Cruises.

AIDA Cruises has been a longstanding supporter of Dubai, being one of the first cruise liners to home port in the city back in 2006. Kazim expressed pride in AIDA Cruises’ commitment to Dubai and highlighted the importance of partners like AIDA Cruises in strengthening Dubai’s position as a prime gateway for winter cruising.

Emirates and AIDA Cruises are set to explore joint marketing opportunities, aligning operations, and strategic planning, including optimizing flight schedules and improving transportation between Dubai International Airport (DXB) and Dubai Harbour Cruise Terminal. The collaboration aims to enhance service by sharing data insights and providing dedicated support teams for cruise passengers, ensuring a smooth check-in process at Dubai Harbour Cruise Terminal.

Eichhorn emphasized the appeal of the Arabian Gulf as a winter destination, citing moderate flight times, pleasant temperatures, and ample sunshine. With Dubai Harbour’s state-of-the-art terminals and convenient access to the city’s attractions, the cooperation with Emirates is expected to further enhance the destination’s attractiveness for guests with tailored flight options.

Emirates’ 12 check-in counters at Dubai Harbour offer convenience for passengers disembarking from cruise ships, allowing them to check in for their flights up to four hours before departure. This enables passengers to explore Dubai luggage-free before heading directly to the airport.

According to the press release, Emirates transported around 400,000 cruise passengers through Dubai terminals last year. With over 166 ships visiting the city in the previous cruise season, Dubai anticipates a 23 percent increase in ship arrivals for the upcoming season. The partnership between Emirates and AIDA Cruises reflects a commitment to boosting Dubai’s cruise tourism sector and enhancing the overall passenger experience.
