MUSCAT: The Sultanate of Oman ranked second among Arab states in the latest road quality index, according to Zutobi, the driving education agency based in the United States of America.

The Sultanate is ranked 40th globally while Bahrain was 10th in the list of 59 where Kuwait finished at the bottom where as the UAE and Saudi Arabia took the 51st and 52nd places.

Singapore with a score of 9.44 out of 10 topped the index, as the country with the best roads in the world, followed by the Netherlands, Switzerland and Japan.

The report noted that for someone who drives, living or visiting a place with a high-quality road can be hugely beneficial in many ways including better fuel economy, less tire wear and damage to vehicles, and a more comfortable journey to and from its destinations.
