ABU DHABI, 24th February, 2023 (WAM) — Tawam Hospital, part of the Abu Dhabi Health Services Company (SEHA), and a subsidiary of the PureHealth Group – the UAE’s largest integrated healthcare platform, has announced the conclusion of the first Al Ain Maxillofacial Symposium recently at the Ayla Grand Hotel, Al Ain City, Abu Dhabi.

The interactive symposium included multidisciplinary team participation from a wide array of sector disciplines, including Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (OMFS), Ear, Nose, and Throat Surgery (ENT), Head and Neck (H&N), Plastic surgery, Dentistry as well as allied practitioners (nursing, speech therapy, dental tech, among others).

Led by Tawam Hospital, the symposium served as an academic platform discussing advanced care in complex craniomaxillofacial/head and neck conditions presented by expert speakers from across the UAE, GCC, and the UK. Topics covered fell under three primary areas: advances and developments, epidemiology & specialty data, and future perspectives.

Elaborating on the conference, Dr. Khalid Mohamed Ahmed Hassan Abdelgalil, Chairman of the Al Ain Maxillofacial Symposium, said, “The Maxillofacial Surgery Department is extremely proud to have organised the first-ever Al Ain Maxillofacial Symposium, on behalf of PureHealth, SEHA and Tawam Hospital. With internationally renowned speakers touching upon a wide spectrum of topics including recent technological advances, specialty training, research, outcome data and multidisciplinary practice, this proved to be a highly engaging and insightful event.”

Going forward, Tawam Hospital and SEHA, a PureHealth asset, remain committed towards furthering the global exchange of knowledge around the advancements in the field of maxillofacial surgery and allied fields.”

The symposium agenda had an impressive line-up of several compelling sessions from local, regional, and international speakers. Dr. Eiad Qudairat from the UK delivered an engaging session on ‘Facial Beauty and Aesthetic Surgery’, while Dr. Hala Abuzaid from the UAE spoke on ‘Critical Care role in Multi-disciplinary Management of OMFS Patients’.
