‘Sheikh Mohammed enjoys a walk at Mushrif National Park in Dubai’

by Dubaiforum

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, recently paid a visit to Mushrif National Park, a popular green space in the heart of Dubai. Spanning an impressive 81 million square feet, the park is known for its lush greenery and scenic beauty.

During his visit, Sheikh Mohammed took a leisurely stroll along the park’s designated hiking trail, enjoying the peaceful surroundings and natural beauty. Located less than 20 kilometers from the city center and just 10 kilometers from Dubai International Airport, Mushrif National Park is a convenient escape for residents and tourists alike.

Home to 70,000 trees and a diverse array of unique bird species, Mushrif National Park is a haven for nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts. In a bid to further enhance the park’s offerings, Dubai Municipality has announced the development of a 50-kilometer sand bike track within the park’s sprawling forests.

This innovative project aims to provide residents with a new and exciting outdoor activity, promoting cycling as a healthy and sustainable mode of transportation. The sand bike track will be the first of its kind in Dubai, featuring a 20 km stretch in the first phase and an additional 30 km in the second phase.

By 2026, the new track is expected to add 276 kilometers to Dubai’s existing and planned cycle tracks, bringing the total length of bicycle paths in the city to an impressive 739 km. This development is part of Dubai’s ongoing efforts to promote a more active and eco-friendly lifestyle among its residents, while also preserving and enhancing the emirate’s natural landscapes.
