The Department of Economy and Tourism in Dubai has highlighted groundbreaking initiatives in the field of sustainability in the emirate on the occasion of the celebration of World Environment Day, which falls on 5 June.

The Dubai Sustainable Tourism Initiative, which aims to consolidate the emirate’s position as one of the world’s leading sustainable tourism destinations, celebrates sustainable practices, from desert reserves to restaurants, facilities and attractions that protect the environment.

Among the most prominent initiatives, the “Dubai Initiative”, aims to educate different sections of society about the importance of conserving natural resources and inspiring them to create the necessary change for some wrong practices that harm the environment.

While the Dubai Desert Reserve is one of the largest nature reserves in the Emirates, the Ras Al Khor Wildlife Sanctuary includes tens of thousands of flamingos.

The Dubai Turtle Rehabilitation Project in Jumeirah aims to care for and rehabilitate sick or injured turtles and release them to their environment.

The Al Marmoom Desert Reserve makes up 10% of Dubai’s total area and is the largest unencapsulated nature reserve in the UAE.

Dubai hotels also continue to adopt sustainable solutions and are committed to preserving the environment in accordance with Dubai’s guidelines for sustainable tourism, as Dubai hotels implement a number of sustainability requirements.

The emirate includes many recreational facilities rich in cultural activities, which pay tribute to Dubai’s long history in the field of sustainability and aim to consolidate its position as a leading destination seeking to achieve a sustainable future.

Dubai’s desert safari allows you to enjoy stunning views and communicate with nature, and many world-famous hiking trails surround Dubai, specifically in the village of Hatta, which is an ideal destination to enjoy nature outside the emirate, and spend a fun and fully sustainable time .

• Dubai Safari offers the opportunity to enjoy the scenic views and connect with nature.
