The Gastro Kitchen Brunch @ Doubletree Hilton JBR Dubai : Pool & Beach Access for the Family!

by Dubaiforum

The weather is heating up, isn’t it? Good time to do a brunch with pool access, don’t you think? Doubletree Hilton in JBR have recently relaunched their much loved Gastro Kitchen brunch. We returned one Saturday late February with the family to spend the day there.

Here’s what to expect from the Gastro Kitchen brunch.

Where exactly is the Gastro Kitchen brunch?

If you are not familiar with the property – Gastro Kitchen is Doubletree by Hilton JBR‘s all-day dining. It’s located on pool and beach level, and the brunch happens mainly outdoors on the lawn in the winter time, right by their pool.

There is complimentary valet. Hand your car to the team on ground level – this is on the left as you enter the hotel barrier. Note : You do not have to drive ‘up’ to the hotel lobby.

Is there shade?

Depending on how you look at it – that’s one big plus of the lawn area at Doubletree.

It’s shaded for most of the afternoon when we were there late February – credits to the towering Address Beach Resort adjacent to it. This means you will sit comfortably for most of the afternoon – of course, depending on when you are doing the brunch. I wouldn’t advise any sane person to be outdoors mid summer 😉

Is there pool access as well?

Yes! You are welcome to use the pool and beach from 12pm till closing time.

They have a shaded toddler pool, which is next to the main family pool. There is a glass barrier between both so they cannot simply cross over.

What sort of food is served at The Gastro Kitchen brunch?

The brunch is a family sharing concept, with everything served to table.

Pace yourself – as there is so much food. Loved their colourful mezze – labneh tzatziki (white), pisatachio hummus (green, you guessed it), squid ink hummus (dark grey) and muhammara (red).

There’s compressed watermelon salad with feta, buffalo mozzarella (of course), lamb barbacoa tacos and potato croquettes.

Is that breakfast dishes I see?

You get to choose one out of 5 choices of breakfast dishes – halloumi and avocado toast, cured salmon and potato rosti, even pulled wagyu beef benedict. There’s also sweets like brioche french toast and ricotta and lemon pancakes.

Did I say, pace yourself? 🙂

And then mains?

That’s not all. Next, is mains.

There are 6 choices – so I recommend you come in at least a group of 4 so everyone gets to try a little of everything. Get the sambal chilli barbequed king prawns if you can. The mint and garlic lamb chops as well as the slow braised beef cheek we loved. There’s a vegetarian option of beetroot risotto served with goat cheese for those who prefer that.

Is there a kids corner?

When we were there, they have set up a toddler corner with some toys – trucks, megablocks and more. It’s good enough for say age 4 and under. The younger 2 (age 2 and 4) were there for a bit, and then were just running around the lawn for most of the afternoon (there’s a lot of space).

We also brought the scooters and they quite literally zooming around the area. I would recommend you bring it so you can go for a wander on the boardwalk and possibly across the bridge to Bluewaters after.

Overall Thoughts

The Gastro Kitchen brunch is very well-priced. It’s so comfortable to sit outdoors in the shade and catch up with family with food and drinks served to table all afternoon. The plus side is you can use the pool and beach as well, which is your entire Saturday sorted – isn’t it? 🙂 A good one to bring family to if they’re visiting as it’s got everything Dubai has to offer : Food, Drinks, Sun, Pool, Beach and an amazing view 😉 Add it to your family brunch list.

Disclaimer : We were guests of Doubletree by Hilton to review the Gastro Kitchen Brunch.
