The Sustainable City, the first fully sustainable community in the Middle East, organized a local clean-up campaign to celebrate World Environment Day. The initiative included a clean-up campaign for Kite Beach, which was organized in collaboration with Dubai Municipality.
Children from Sanad Village, the largest center in the region for understanding autism spectrum disorders and other disorders, participated in the campaign to encourage the inclusion of determined people in various environmental and community initiatives.

The litter collected by participants during the beach cleanup included cigarette butts, paper and plastic bags removed from along the beach. Waste management has always been one of the main environmental priorities of the “Sustainable City”, which works to reduce waste and encourage its recycling, and has succeeded in transforming 89% of its waste comes from landfills and is taking important steps in its search for a more sustainable future.
This initiative is part of a global movement that includes 20 million people from more than 180 countries who have undertaken clean-up activities and initiatives to rid the planet of waste and remove waste from various places and locations around the world.
