The UAE delegate to the United Nations: Syria’s stability is an essential pillar of Arab security

The representative of the United Arab Emirates to the United Nations, Lana Zaki Nusseibeh, affirmed that the stability of Syria is an essential pillar of Arab security, stressing her country’s rejection of any external interference in Syria’s internal affairs.

“We stress the importance of strengthening cooperation between the Security Council and the Arab League to find Arab solutions to Arab crises, including the crisis in Syria,” Nusseibeh said in a speech during a session at the UN Security Council today, which was published by the UAE mission on its website. Arabi”.

Nusseibeh added, “In the context of our call to strengthen the Arab role in efforts to end the crisis in Syria, we renew our rejection of foreign interference in it,” stressing “the need to respect its sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity.”

Nusseibeh continued, “The UAE believes that there is an urgent need to find tangible and effective solutions to end the crisis in Syria by adopting a practical and logical approach. In the context of our general direction to find diplomatic solutions to crises and our call for the importance of an effective Arab role to discuss ways to solve the crisis in Syria instead of merely managing it, a visit came President Bashar al-Assad to my country within the framework of this approach.”

Nusseibeh announced the UAE’s support for efforts to reach a political solution in accordance with International Resolution 2254, noting that reaching this solution is still possible if efforts are combined to overcome the current obstacles and meet the aspirations and basic needs of the brotherly Syrian people.
