The United Arab Emirates welcomed the US initiative to allocate a fund to meet the needs of the friendly Afghan people, which will help achieve economic stability. In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation said the UAE welcomes the announcement by the United States and a number of international partners of an initiative to manage $3.5 billion in reserves in the Afghan central bank, which will be allocated to finance the needs of the Afghan people and help reduce the effects of the economic and humanitarian challenges he faces.

The ministry added that the UAE looks forward to this step that facilitates the delivery of urgent needs, and reiterates its support for all international efforts aimed at achieving stability and prosperity for Afghanistan and its people.

It is noteworthy that the UAE is at the forefront of countries providing emergency aid to the Afghan people.

The United States had announced the creation of a fund to benefit the financing of the Afghan people in coordination with several international partners and Afghan economic experts.

In a statement yesterday, the US State Department said that, in cooperation with the US Treasury Department, it has established a policy to enable $3.5 billion from the reserves of the Central Bank of Afghanistan to benefit the people of Afghanistan. She said: The Afghan Fund will maintain its account with the Bank for International Settlements (BIS) in Switzerland, and an external auditor will monitor and audit the Afghan Fund as required by Swiss law.
