The SpaceX Falcon 9 successfully made its way into space.

The SpaceX Falcon 9 which was carrying UAE astronaut Sultan AlNeyadi and his crew-6 teammates had a successful launch.

The UAE astronaut Sultan AlNeyadi made history for the Emirates today.

The Emirati astronaut along with his crew-6 mates, all suited are on their way to the International Space Station.

On Thursday, March 2, 2023, Sultan AlNeyadi lifted off for the first six-month mission to the International Space Station (ISS). This space mission is the longest Arab space mission.

After a three-day wait, Nasa’s Crew-6 mission to the International Space Station (ISS) blasted off today at 9.34 am, UAE time.

Joining Sultan Al Neyadi on a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket and Dragon spacecraft, his three other colleagues Nasa astronauts Stephen Bowen, Warren Hoburg, and Roscosmos cosmonaut Andrey Fedyaev successfully lifted off into space from Launch Complex 39A at Kennedy Space Centre in Florida, USA.

As per NASA, following the successful lift-off, the journey to the orbiting laboratory will take around 24 to 25 hours and the four-member crew will spend six months at the ISS.

Today’s launch was the second attempt after the launch on February 27, 2023, which was scrubbed in the final two minutes of the countdown. An issue with the ignition system on Monday led to the launch of Nasa’s SpaceX Crew-6 mission getting delayed.

Sultan Al Neyadi is the second United Arab Emirates national to go into space after Hazza Al Mansouri who reached space in 2019.
