UAE home to international sports in 2022-2023

DUBAI, 30th September, 2022 (WAM) — In the next few months, the UAE will be a gathering point for a variety of global sports stars, including football, by hosting many international tournaments and events.

Dubai will host the Tennis Legends Team Cup finals, with the participation of major retired players from 9th to 12th November, 2022.

Dubai will also be the focus of the attention of world stars and football legends, such as Brazilian Dunga, Roberto Carlos, Rivaldo, Zico, Santos Aldair, Paulo Henrique, and German Ralph Wilfjono, in addition to the initial approval of German legend Franz Beckenbauer and French star Zinedine Zidane, and others.

These players will participate in a friendly international match on 14th January in support of People of Determination as part of a major charity festival on 2nd January 2022.

On the football front, a number of world teams headed to the UAE before participating in the World Cup, such as Argentina, Uruguay, Germany and Japan.

Al Ain city hosted the Egyptian Super Cup between Zamalek and Al Ahly teams on 28th October, 2022, while Abu Dhabi will host Argentina’s Super Cup in January 2023.

The “Ski Dubai” in Mall of the Emirates hosted the World Skating Championships from 9th to 13th October, 2022, and the emirate hosted the “Professional Beach Volleyball World Tour” championship, from 22nd to 30th October at the Kite Beach.

Dubai also saw the World Paddle Tennis tournament, hosted by the UAE for the first time, from 31st October to 5th November.

The DP World Golf Championship, the final round of the golfing season in Dubai, will be held from 17th to 20th November, 2022, at the Jumeirah Golf Estates. The Emirates Airline Rugby Sevens will be held at The Sevens from 1st to 3rd December, 2022.

Abu Dhabi hosted the 27th edition of the World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship which began on 29th October and concludes on 8th November.

For the first time in the Middle East and North Africa region, Abu Dhabi is hosting the 2022 Paralympic Shooting World Championships. It began on 3rd November and concludes on 17th November.

The city will also host the Abu Dhabi Formula One Grand Prix from the 17th to 20th November, as well as the Zayed Charity Marathon on 19th November.

The capital will host the finals of the World Triathlon Championship Finals 2022 from 23rd to 26th November.

The 2022 Spartan World Championship will be held in Al Wathba Desert for the second time outside the US after the Liwa Desert hosted the Moreeb Dune event in the Al Dhafra Region last year.

Abu Dhabi will host the World Championship for Masters Basketball on 9th and 10th December on Yas Island, following the great success and significant public attention witnessed by last year’s edition of the championship.
