UAE Residents Urged to Save 10 Million kWh by Setting ACs to 24°C on Earth Day

by Dubaiforum

Taqeef, a leading provider of cooling solutions in the region, is urging UAE residents to make a small change that could have a big impact on Earth Day. By setting their ACs to 24°C for at least one hour – or even up to a whole day – residents can contribute to potential energy savings of over 10 million kWh per day for the UAE.

This initiative is supported by the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), which states that temperatures between 24 and 25°C offer optimal thermal comfort. Increasing the thermostat by just 1 degree Celsius can lead to energy savings of up to 5%, aligning with conscious efforts towards environmental preservation.

In response to this need for more sustainable cooling practices, Taqeef has launched its “24 for 2024” campaign. This annual initiative aims to raise awareness and encourage residents to reduce the environmental impact of their AC usage.

Tariq Al Ghussein, CEO of Taqeef, emphasizes the importance of this initiative, highlighting that air conditioning accounts for a significant portion of the total electricity consumed in buildings worldwide. As the world experiences rising temperatures, the reliance on AC for comfort continues to grow.

In the UAE, where cooling is essential for daily living, Taqeef advocates for more mindful AC usage. By adjusting the thermostat to 24°C, residents can make a significant difference in energy consumption. With an estimated population of over 9.5 million people in the UAE, the potential daily savings from this small adjustment could amount to approximately 10 million kWh.

To celebrate Earth Day, Taqeef is offering a special 24% discount on all AC units purchased on April 22nd through its online store. This exclusive promotion encourages consumers to switch to energy-efficient cooling solutions, contributing to environmental conservation while enjoying significant savings.

Residents are invited to join Taqeef in making a positive impact on the environment by participating in the campaign and learning more about conscious cooling practices.
