ABU DHABI, 24th February, 2023 (WAM) – Tomorrow, the UAE will celebrate Kuwait’s 62nd National Day, highlighting the strong and long-standing relations between the two nations. The relationship between the UAE and Kuwait serves as a model for successful bilateral relations, spanning political, diplomatic, economic, and cultural cooperation.

Each year, the UAE hosts a range of activities and events celebrating Kuwait’s National Day on February 25th. The strategic partnership between the two countries continues to strengthen under the leadership of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and His Highness Sheikh Nawaf Al Ahmed Al Jaber Al Sabah, the Amir of Kuwait.

The coordination between the two countries on bilateral, regional, and international issues serves their mutual interests and reinforces the coherence of the Arab and Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) communities. In recent years, the UAE and Kuwait have taken several significant steps to improve their relations, including the establishment of a joint bilateral cooperation committee in Kuwait City in 2006.

The committee has held numerous meetings that led to the signing of various programmes and agreements, such as an agreement on diplomatic training and research signed by the Emirati and Kuwaiti ministries of foreign affairs. The Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the UAE Federation of the Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FCCI) signed a mutual protocol for cooperation, and the securities and commodities authorities of both countries signed an MoU for cooperation in their respective fields.

Moreover, the two nations signed MoUs for industrial cooperation, coordination in the oil, gas, and petrochemicals industries, and the exploration of new and renewable energy sources. The Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi and the National Council for Culture, Arts and Literature (NCCAL) of Kuwait signed an executive programme covering 2014 to 2017 for cooperation in libraries, culture, and arts.

The economic and commercial relations between the UAE and Kuwait are a model of cooperation, with both countries committed to expanding their cooperation in industry, commerce, and investment. The cultural ties between the two countries also underscore their similarities and mutual interests, with several cultural and educational agreements signed in various areas.

Over the past 62 years, Kuwait has made significant progress in its development, marked by the welfare of its citizens and workers. Kuwait’s sustainable economy, based on diverse production and sources of national income, has increased its global competitiveness, as evidenced by several international indices.
