Iraqi pharmacist Tala Al Khalil was honored as the winner of the 2024 Arab Hope Makers award during a ceremony in Dubai. This initiative, now in its 4th season, celebrates philanthropists in the Arab region. His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, directed that all four finalists be recognized as Arab Hope Makers. These include Tala Al Khalil from Iraq, Mohamed Al Najjar from Iraq, Amine Imnir from Morocco, and Fathiya Al Mahmoud from Egypt. Tala Al Khalil emerged as the winner after receiving the highest number of votes during the event.

Tala Al Khalil’s journey began in 2015 when she started supporting young cancer patients at Basra Children’s Hospital, providing them with hope and education. In 2018, she founded Warriors Academy, a facility that cares for 200 children with Down syndrome and cancer. Along with the other finalists, she will receive an AED 1 million prize for her humanitarian efforts.

Established by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed, the Arab Hope Makers award recognizes individuals dedicated to humanitarian work. The ceremony took place at Dubai’s Coca-Cola Arena and attracted over 12,000 attendees.

In related news, the UAE is expecting rainfall in the coming days, prompting authorities to urge caution. Additionally, another UAE aid convoy has entered Gaza as part of the country’s ongoing relief efforts. The UAE has also opened a Prosthetic Limb Centre in Gaza to provide support to those in need.
