Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority Announces Eid Al Fitr Operating Hours: A Comprehensive Guide

As the UAE prepares for the joyful celebration of Eid Al Fitr, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) of Dubai has released a detailed announcement concerning the operational hours of various modes of transportation and related services during the holiday for the year 1446H (2025). The celebration, which signifies the end of Ramadan, is anticipated to take place from Saturday, March 29, through Wednesday, April 2, with regular operations resuming on Thursday, April 3.

This well-structured planning ensures that residents and visitors can navigate Dubai during this festive period without unnecessary inconvenience. The alterations to service schedules will impact a range of RTA-managed sectors, encompassing customer service centers, public transportation, marine services, and vehicle testing facilities.

Closure of Vehicle Testing and Customer Happiness Centers

During Eid, traditional vehicle testing centers will close their doors from 1 to 3 Shawwal (March 31 to April 2) and will reopen on 4 Shawwal (April 3). This temporary cessation is intended to accommodate the increased demand for other services and celebrations, as many individuals focus on family gatherings and festivities during this significant period. Similarly, Customer Happiness Centers will also be non-operational throughout the holiday.

However, for those in need of assistance during this time, RTA has ensured that Smart Customer Happiness Centers—located in Umm Ramool, Deira, Al Barsha, Al Kifaf, and at the RTA Headquarters—will remain accessible around the clock, providing 24/7 service. This consideration demonstrates RTA’s commitment to customer service continuity, acknowledging that during celebratory periods, residents may require transportation support and assistance.

Altered Metro and Tram Hours

In preparation for the festivities, the Dubai Metro will provide adjusted operating hours. The Red and Green Lines will adhere to the following schedule:

– Saturday, March 29: 5:00 AM to 1:00 AM (next day)
– Sunday, March 30: 8:00 AM to 1:00 AM (next day)
– Monday to Wednesday, March 31 to April 2: 5:00 AM to 1:00 AM (next day)

The Dubai Tram services will also operate on a modified timetable primarily from March 29 to 31, running from 6:00 AM to 1:00 AM. Notably, on Sunday, the tram service will commence later at 9:00 AM but will continue until the early hours of the following day. These adjustments are designed to accommodate the increased passenger flow expected during the holiday, where family outings and new social engagements are rampant.

Public Bus and Marine Transport Service Updates

The RTA has communicated updates regarding the operational hours of the Dubai Bus and Hatta Bus services and various marine transport options. Services, including the Water Taxi, Dubai Ferry, and traditional Abra services, will operate under updated schedules throughout the holiday period. Commuters are encouraged to seek real-time information through the S’hail app or the RTA’s official website to ensure they are aware of any changes or updates.

Complimentary Public Parking

In a bid to ease the transportation experience during this celebratory period, the RTA has announced that all public parking will be free of charge from 1 to 3 Shawwal (March 31 to April 2), with the exception of multi-level parking terminals. This initiative offers an opportunity for residents to visit family and friends without the added burden of parking fees. Paid parking will resume on April 3, as the city transitions back to its regular operations post-holiday.

In summary, as Eid Al Fitr approaches, the RTA’s thoughtful adjustments in service schedules exhibit its commitment to accommodating the transportation needs of Dubai’s residents and visitors alike. These announcements not only provide clarity on service availability but also reflect a broader ethos of community at a time when families and friends gather in celebration.
