Dubai royal to return to Hong Kong by June to inaugurate family office

by Dubaiforum

Sheikh Ali Al Maktoum of the United Arab Emirates is set to return to Hong Kong no later than June for the opening of his family office in the city. The CEO of the prince’s Hong Kong-based office, Eleanor Jane Mak, confirmed this news.

The inauguration ceremony was initially scheduled for March 28 but was abruptly called off by the Sheikh, leading to speculation about his commitment to the project. It was also revealed that he had a sideline career as a pop singer and had not been vetted by authorities before meeting with Hong Kong’s top leader, John Lee Ka-chiu.

The delay was attributed to “urgent matters in Dubai,” but the Sheikh’s office reassured the public of his dedication to the project and announced that the office would be opened at the end of May during his next visit to Hong Kong.

Mak, in an interview published recently, disclosed that the Sheikh will be returning to the city in the coming weeks, which presents an opportunity to address the concerns surrounding the postponement of the ceremony in March. She also mentioned that the Sheikh is considering changing the name of his family office in Hong Kong to lessen the focus on his royal lineage.
