Family Day in Abu Dhabi: Jan De Nul’s Fun Event for Employees

by Dubaiforum

Jan De Nul is currently undertaking multiple projects in Abu Dhabi, including the Lightning cable project for ADNOC. The Lightning project team organized a visit on Saturday, 27 April for colleagues aboard the cable-laying vessel Isaac Newton. This vessel has been involved in the installation of three cable bundles for the Lightning project, totaling approximately 400 kilometers of submarine power links in the United Arab Emirates.

Over 200 colleagues from various sites in Abu Dhabi, along with their partners and family members, visited the vessel. For many, it was their first experience on an offshore cable-laying vessel, while some were setting foot on a Jan De Nul vessel for the first time. Each visit started with a safety induction, followed by a detailed explanation of the ongoing Lightning project that the Isaac Newton is currently engaged in.

The tour of the vessel began on the bridge, continued to the afterdeck via the helideck, and included explanations on the loading and offloading of power cables and their placement on the seabed for protection. Visitors also had the opportunity to explore the accommodation areas, learning about life on board, before enjoying some ice cream in the warm weather. The day concluded with a fun quiz for the youngest visitors, who each received a Jan De Nul goodie bag to take home.

After 11 different group tours and numerous questions from visitors to the crew, the successful visit came to an end, filled with enthusiasm and learning experiences.
