New Bridge Project Costing AED 431 Million Announced

by Dubaiforum

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) of Dubai has announced a monumental project aimed at enhancing accessibility to Dubai Harbour. Valued at AED 431 million, this initiative, developed in partnership with Shamal Holding, the owner and operator of Dubai Harbour, is set to revolutionize the transportation infrastructure in the area.

The focal point of the project is the construction of a two-lane bridge spanning an impressive 1,500 meters. This bridge will serve as a direct link connecting Sheikh Zayed Road, a prominent thoroughfare in Dubai, to Dubai Harbour. With a capacity of 6,000 vehicles per hour, the bridge is expected to significantly improve traffic flow and reduce travel times for both residents and visitors.

According to Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors at the RTA, this project is a game-changer for Dubai Harbour. “This project provides a direct entry and exit for Dubai Harbour, easing movement for visitors and residents,” said Al Tayer. “The bridge will have two lanes in each direction and will span 1,500 meters, accommodating 6,000 vehicles per hour. It will extend from the fifth intersection on Sheikh Zayed Road to Dubai Harbour Street, passing through key intersections like Al Naseem Street and Al Falak Street.”

In addition to the construction of the bridge, the project includes enhancements to existing surface infrastructure at four strategic intersections along the designated route. These improvements are designed to further optimize traffic flow and expedite travel times. Once completed, the project is expected to reduce travel time between Sheikh Zayed Road and Dubai Harbour from 12 minutes to just 3 minutes, a significant improvement that will benefit all those commuting to and from the area.

The ripple effects of the RTA’s initiative are expected to be far-reaching. Improved accessibility to Dubai Harbour is likely to spur further development in the area, attracting more residents and visitors with the promise of easier access and reduced congestion. This strategic investment aligns perfectly with Dubai’s vision of becoming a world-class destination, offering top-notch transportation infrastructure to its residents and tourists.

The project represents a major milestone in Dubai’s ongoing efforts to enhance its infrastructure and connectivity. With construction already underway, residents and visitors can anticipate a more efficient and streamlined travel experience to and from Dubai Harbour in the near future. The completion of this project will not only benefit those traveling to the area, but will also contribute to Dubai’s reputation as a forward-thinking, innovative city that prioritizes the needs of its residents and visitors.

In conclusion, the RTA’s project to improve accessibility to Dubai Harbour is a significant step forward in the city’s quest to enhance its transportation infrastructure and offer a seamless travel experience for all. With the construction of the two-lane bridge and improvements to key intersections, Dubai is setting the stage for a more connected and accessible future. Stay tuned for updates as this transformative project progresses towards completion.
