Celebrating New Year's Eve 2025: A Grand Showcase at the Sheikh Zayed Festival in Abu Dhabi

ABU DHABI (WAM) — In an extraordinary demonstration of creativity and celebration, the Supreme Organising Committee of the Sheikh Zayed Festival has unveiled an ambitious plan for the New Year’s Eve festivities set to take place in Al Wathba, promising audiences a night to remember as they usher in 2025. The festivities will be anchored by iconic displays of fireworks, mesmerizing drone performances, and a cascade of light and laser shows, all meticulously designed to set six new Guinness World Records.

Commencing at 6 PM on December 31, the first of the multiple fireworks spectacles will initiate an hour-long series of breathtaking displays that will charm both residents and visitors alike. The celebrations are carefully structured to provide a continual experience of dazzling visuals. Subsequent fireworks displays will occur on the hour, each one building towards the climactic moment at midnight, when a spectacular grand finale awaits.

As the clock strikes midnight, revelers will witness an unprecedented fireworks show that extends for over 53 minutes. This remarkable duration not only aims to break previous records but also promises an artistry of creative formations that will ignite the skies in a kaleidoscope of colors. Such a magnificent display is designed to encapsulate the spirit of hope and joy that the New Year embodies, resonating deeply with the audience.

The festivities also encompass a dramatic aerial performance led by a fleet of 6,000 drones, which will take to the skies at 11:40 PM. This 20-minute showcase will highlight innovative technology as the drones orchestrate dynamic aerial visuals, including the formation of the world’s largest image and the celebratory message “HAPPY NEW YEAR.” Such an integration of advanced robotics and artistry not only demonstrates the UAE’s leadership in technological innovation but also enriches the cultural tapestry of the festivities.

To complement these aerial wonders, the Emirates Fountain stage will serve as a focal point for an extraordinary laser and light show, featuring 80 state-of-the-art laser systems. This installation, augmented by 4,000 nozzles from the fountain, will paint Al Wathba’s skyline with a symphony of lights synchronized to music, creating an immersive experience that will enthrall attendees.

Throughout the day, beginning at 2 PM, the atmosphere will be further invigorated by traditional live performances in areas such as the Heritage Village Square and the Department of Culture and Tourism Pavilion. Audiences can enjoy traditional music and dance, including performances by prominent groups like Al Ayala, Al Razfa, and Al Naddba, with 600 performers showcasing a rich array of cultural expressions. The involvement of various international pavilions will create a vibrant multicultural celebration, featuring folkloric performances that reflect the diverse traditions of the participating countries.

The festival is designed with families in mind, offering a plethora of activities for guests of all ages. Children can partake in special events at the Kids’ Theatre and enjoy an amusement park with 130 engaging games, ensuring that the youngest attendees have a magical experience. Furthermore, for those eager to witness the celebrations from outside the festival grounds, large outdoor screens will broadcast live coverage of the festivities, allowing everyone in the vicinity to join in the merriment.

Safety and convenience remain paramount, with the Organising Committee encouraging visitors to secure their tickets in advance due to anticipated high attendance. Gates will open at 2 PM, but are set to close once the venue reaches capacity, emphasizing the urgency of early ticket purchases.

This year’s New Year’s Eve celebrations at the Sheikh Zayed Festival not only highlight the UAE’s commitment to delivering world-class events but also provide an opportunity for community engagement and cultural exchange. As the nation looks forward to 2025, this grand celebration promises to encapsulate the essence of togetherness, joy, and innovative spirit that defines the UAE.
