The pastry boutique has launched a limited-edition dessert collection inspired by Mona Kattan’s Kayali fragrances.

Gone are the days of gifting chocolate-covered strawberries for Valentine’s Day as Margaux takes things up a notch this year – the pastry boutique at Jumeirah Mina A’Salam has looked to the latest olfactory creations of perfume brand Kayali for culinary inspiration, debuting a limited-edition dessert collection with a difference.

Connecting bridges between flavour and fragrance, acclaimed Executive Pastry Chef Alexandre Dufeu has thoughtfully crafted three exquisite cakes using ingredients commonly used in both worlds, all presented in the shape of the brand’s iconic fragrance bottles – Invite Only Amber, Eden Juicy Apple, and Vanilla Royale Sugared Patchouli. Perfectly balanced, the edible version of Invite Only Amber is a soft chocolate mousse, rich in texture and flavour, with a touch of cherry and smokiness for just the right finish.

The reinterpretation of Eden Juicy Apple, meanwhile, is a fusion of juicy red apple, sweet berries and a silky frosting, encapsulating the notes of the perfume seamlessly. As for Dufeu’s version of Vanilla Royale Sugared Patchouli? It is a delicately flavoured vanilla and tonka bean dessert designed as a golden bottle, every bite leaving notes of crème brulée and brown sugar.

“As a gourmand, I am so excited to bring some of my favourite Kayali fragrances to life with Margaux and the very talented Chef Alexandre Dufeu. Like food, fragrances have a special way of telling a story or evoking emotions and memories through the notes and ingredients. I really loved experimenting with all of the different flavours that inspired these beautiful desserts, and I cannot wait for you to get a taste of what we have come up with,” says Mona Kattan, founder of Kayali.

Speaking of Margaux’s partnership with Kayali, Dufeu added, “It was a joy to design this limited-edition collection of desserts with no shortage of inspiration. Pastry is a highly sophisticated form of art and combining it together with perfumery allowed me to take innovation to new heights. It is not only about designing cakes into artistic pieces, but also ensuring an effortless harmony in flavours and colours.”

Margaux offers guests the ultimate gift to celebrate love with the Kayali Loves Margaux Pastry Box for AED 295 that’s inclusive of the three limited-edition desserts. Customers who purchase the pastry box also have the chance to receive a complimentary 50ml bottle of Kayali’s Vanilla Royale Sugared Patchouli while stocks last.
