Sharjah Housing Programme provides AED8.9 billion in housing aid over a decade

SHARJAH, 31st May, 2023 (WAM) — Dr. Khalifa Musabah bin Ahmed Al Tunaiji, Head of the Sharjah Housing Programme, said that H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, has directed to raise the number of annual housing assistance for the emirate’s citizens from 1,000 to 1,500, starting from the current year, to keep pace with the results of the Sharjah Census 2022.

According to Al Tunaiji, the programme has provided housing aid to more than 10,879 cases worth over AED8.9 billion over the past ten years, which include grants of over AED5 billion and loans of AED3.4 billion, adding that 6,400 cases were in the cities of Sharjah and Hamriyah, 3,155 were the Eastern Region, and 1,271 were in the Central Region.

During the aforementioned period, 4,200 housing units were completed and delivered to beneficiaries, and another 3,476 units are still under construction. Additionally, 3,231 beneficiaries received decisions to obtain housing units.
