UAE to host IAEA Nuclear and Radiation Regulatory Systems Conference

ABU DHABI, 7th February, 2023 (WAM) — The United Arab Emirates will host the upcoming International Conference on “Effective Nuclear and Radiation Regulatory Systems: Preparing for the Future in Rapidly Changing Environment,” taking place in Abu Dhabi from 13th to 16th February.

The conference is organised by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and hosted by the UAE’s Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation (FANR).

In its sixth edition, the international conference aims to engage in a dialogue at an international expert’s level to share regulatory experiences related to improving the effectiveness of nuclear and radiation regulatory systems, taking into account the outcomes of the past conferences.

Over 90 speakers are expected to take part in the conference along with approximately 400 attendees. The conference will address multiple topics such as regulatory experience, resilience, and agility to respond to new and emerging challenges. It will also address regulatory approaches to innovation, emerging and new technologies as well as building trust among stakeholders and building future nuclear leaders.

During the conference, a side event “Youth Panel: Young Professionals Competition” will be held where the young professionals will present initiatives and ideas to improve the nuclear regulatory systems’ effectiveness in addition to a panel discussion, exhibition and posters showing cases of different technologies and countries practices.
