New evidence focuses on identifying patients with clinically very high-risk, nonmetastatic prostate cancer who may benefit from more intensive treatment.
PRWire: SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, California ā Veracyte has announced research showing that its Decipher Prostate test can predict benefit from adding abiraterone to androgen deprivation therapy in patients with clinically very high-risk, nonmetastatic prostate cancer.
The company described the findings as the first evidence of Decipherās predictive value for abiraterone in this setting. The research forms part of Veracyteās programme at the European Society for Medical Oncology Congress 2026 in Madrid. investor.veracyte.com

What is the Decipher Prostate test?
The Decipher Prostate Genomic Classifier measures the expression of 22 genes in prostate cancer tissue to assess tumour aggressiveness and the risk of disease progression.
Testing uses tissue already collected during a biopsy or prostate surgery. It produces a score between zero and one, providing biological information that can complement clinical and pathological assessments. It is a tumour genomic test, rather than a screening test for detecting prostate cancer. Veracyte
Moving from risk assessment to treatment selection
Assessing how aggressively a cancer may behave and predicting whether a particular treatment will help are distinct questions.
Veracyte says the abiraterone findings extend Decipherās evidence beyond risk classification into treatment selection. The study addresses whether tumour biology can help distinguish patients who benefit from adding treatment within a group already considered clinically very high risk.
The research is scheduled for presentation by Sarah Howlett, a clinical research fellow at University College London, on 24 October at ESMO 2026. investor.veracyte.com
Supporting individualised prostate cancer care
The potential value of genomic testing lies in providing additional information for treatment discussions. A genomic score must be interpreted in the context of the patientās disease, clinical findings and treatment setting.
According to Veracyte, Decipherās application varies across prostate cancer care, including decisions about surveillance, radiation and hormone therapy. The test supports clinical judgement rather than providing a standalone treatment decision. Veracyte
