Customs data shows an increase in transactions during the first half of 2024

by Dubaiforum

In a groundbreaking development for customs operations, Abu Dhabi Customs has reported a substantial 28 percent increase in proactive and automated transactions in the first half of 2024 compared to the same period in 2023. This surge in efficiency and innovation has had a profound impact on the overall landscape of customs transactions in the region.

One of the key services provided by Abu Dhabi Customs is the proactive insurance refund service, which has seen a surge in demand as customers seek to streamline their operations and cut down on unnecessary delays. In addition, the issuance of truck transit permits, entry and exit permits for goods at customs centers, and customs certificates for vehicles have all contributed to the overall growth in automated transactions. The seamless integration of these services has significantly improved the customer experience and reduced the burden on businesses operating in the region.

Customs declarations have also seen a 2 percent increase in the first half of 2024, with pre-arrival customs clearance transactions accounting for a significant portion of total customs clearance transactions. This shift towards proactive customs clearance has been instrumental in speeding up the process and reducing wait times for businesses importing and exporting goods through various customs ports in the emirate.

Moreover, the average time taken for customs clearance transactions in the first half of 2024 has decreased to 13.86 minutes, down from 15.47 minutes in the same period in 2023. This reduction in processing time is a testament to the efficiency and effectiveness of Abu Dhabi Customs’ services, which have been further validated by a remarkable 94 percent score in the Customer Satisfaction Index through the Abu Dhabi Digital Government Services Platform “TAMM”.

Rashid Lahej Al Mansoori, Director General of Abu Dhabi Customs, expressed his satisfaction with the continuous growth rates and the positive impact of digital transformation on customs operations. He highlighted the organization’s commitment to leveraging cutting-edge technologies and smart systems to achieve the highest global standards in customs clearance time and support the emirate’s economic objectives and future vision for trade facilitation.

“The progress we have made in digital transformation at Abu Dhabi Customs is a testament to our dedication to providing innovative solutions and enhancing the customer journey within the customs system,” Al Mansoori stated. “Our strategic partnerships and ongoing collaboration with key stakeholders have allowed us to adapt to changes, address needs, and anticipate future trends in customs work. These efforts align with our vision to become a world-class customs authority and set new benchmarks for excellence in the industry.”

As Abu Dhabi Customs continues to push the boundaries of innovation and efficiency in customs operations, businesses and customers can expect a seamless and streamlined experience that prioritizes speed, accuracy, and customer satisfaction. With a strong focus on digital transformation, strategic partnerships, and cutting-edge technologies, Abu Dhabi Customs is well-positioned to lead the way in revolutionizing customs clearance processes and setting new standards for global best practices.
