Title: Strategic Advances in Sustainability and Digital Transformation: Dubai Authorities Collaborate at Moro Hub

Dubai, UAE – In a significant demonstration of collaboration aimed at enhancing the emirate’s sustainability objectives and digital capabilities, His Excellency Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), welcomed a senior delegation from Dubai Municipality. This delegation was led by His Excellency Marwan Bin Ghalita, the Director General of Dubai Municipality, during an official visit to Moro Hub—the digital subsidiary of DEWA operating under the banner of Digital DEWA.

The meeting brought together key figures in the pursuit of innovation and sustainability, including Eng. Marwan Bin Haidar, Vice Chairman and Group CEO of Digital DEWA, among several other senior executives. The primary focus of the discussions revolved around fostering deeper cooperation between DEWA and Dubai Municipality in areas such as digital transformation, smart infrastructure development, and initiatives promoting sustainability.

At the heart of the discussions was the comprehensive vision set forth by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Dubai. Al Tayer highlighted that this partnership aligns with the Emirate’s ambition to position itself as a global leader in innovation and environmental stewardship. He underscored the necessity for collective efforts among government entities to expedite the deployment of smart and secure infrastructure that is sustainable and beneficial to all citizens.

“The visit by Dubai Municipality reinforces the critical need for unified efforts among government entities to accelerate the deployment of smart, secure, and sustainable infrastructure,” stated Al Tayer, emphasizing the essential role of collaboration in achieving the Emirate’s lofty goals.

In pursuing these objectives, Al Tayer elaborated on Digital DEWA’s commitment to empowering digital transformation as a means to develop a resilient green economy. This commitment is in direct alignment with the UAE’s ambitious Net Zero by 2050 Strategy and the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 aimed at increasing reliance on renewable energy sources.

The visit included an extensive presentation outlining Moro Hub’s portfolio of advanced services. Delegates participated in a guided tour of key facilities, including the Network Operations Center (NOC), the Security Operations Center (SOC), the Smart Cities and IoT Command Center, as well as the region’s largest solar-powered Green Data Center. These facilities are at the forefront of technological advancements, specializing in areas crucial to the digital transformation of urban environments.

A significant highlight of the meeting was Al Tayer’s presentation of Moro Hub’s Green Certificate to Eng. Marwan Bin Ghalita—a symbolic gesture signifying their shared commitment to sustainability. This certificate serves to recognize Dubai Municipality’s initiative to host its IT workloads at Moro Hub’s eco-friendly facility, reflecting a collective effort to significantly reduce carbon footprints.

Eng. Bin Ghalita acknowledged the importance of this partnership, stating: “As Dubai advances its vision to become one of the smartest and most sustainable cities globally, strategic collaborations like this are key. Moro Hub’s digital expertise will help elevate our smart city capabilities, public service delivery, and infrastructure resilience.” Such sentiments echo the prevailing ethos within Dubai’s leadership, a dedication to making effective use of digital technologies to enhance urban living.

The engagement provided Dubai Municipality’s delegation with an insightful overview of Moro Hub’s critical role in driving the digital transformation agenda across the UAE. The hub is positioned as a key enabler of national development, offering a suite of services in Cloud & Hosting, Cybersecurity, IoT, Managed Services, and Smart City technologies. All of these initiatives collectively aim to support the nation’s transition towards a knowledge-based and innovation-driven economy.

As Dubai continues to pursue its ambitious urban development and sustainability goals, collaborations among governmental entities such as DEWA and Dubai Municipality play an essential role. By integrating efforts in digital transformation and environmental sustainability, Dubai aims to carve out a path to becoming a beacon of innovation and ecological responsibility—further solidifying its status on the global stage.
