Abu Dhabi Customs Authority Streamlines Operations, Reducing Customs Clearance Time

In a bid to enhance efficiency and user experience, Abu Dhabi Customs Authority has reported a significant improvement in customs clearance transactions during the first half of 2024. The authority has successfully reduced the time of customs clearance transactions from an average of 15.47 minutes in the first half of 2023 to just 13.86 minutes in the same period of 2024. This impressive achievement showcases the authority’s commitment to streamlining operations and providing a seamless customs clearance process for businesses and individuals alike.

Digital Transformation Drives Growth in Customs Transactions

The Abu Dhabi Customs General Administration has reported a remarkable 27 percent annual increase in digital customs transactions across Abu Dhabi’s border points in the first half of 2024. Proactive and automated transactions have seen a 28 percent surge, playing a significant role in the overall increase in customs transactions during this period. Abu Dhabi Customs offers a wide range of services to customers, including proactive insurance refund services, truck transit permits, entry and exit permits for goods at customs centers, and customs certificates for vehicles. The authority also issues entry and exit customs certificates automatically when customers prepare their customs declarations, further streamlining the customs clearance process for greater efficiency.

Pre-Arrival Clearance Transactions on the Rise

During the first half of 2024, customs declarations experienced a 2 percent growth, with pre-arrival customs clearance transactions accounting for 71 percent of the total customs clearance transactions across various customs ports in the emirate. This surge in pre-arrival clearance transactions represents a 46 percent year-on-year increase, demonstrating the authority’s continued efforts to improve operational efficiency and provide a hassle-free customs clearance experience for its clients.
