Dubai Unveils the World’s Largest Visa Application Centre: A New Era of International Mobility

In an unprecedented development poised to significantly enhance global mobility, Dubai proudly launched the world's largest visa application centre, located at Wafi City. This state-of-the-art facility, sprawling across nearly 150,000 square feet, boasts the capacity to process an astounding 10,000 visa applications daily, establishing it as the highest-capacity visa processing centre in a single location worldwide.

The inauguration ceremony was graced by prominent figures, including His Excellency Helal Saeed Almarri, Director General of Dubai’s Department of Economy and Tourism; His Excellency Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri, Director General of the General Directorate of Identity and Foreigners Affairs – Dubai; and Zubin Karkaria, Founder and CEO of VFS Global Group. Their presence underscored the significance of this milestone, reflecting Dubai’s commitment to facilitating international travel and enhancing economic interactions.

H.E. Helal Saeed Almarri articulated the importance of this initiative, stating, “This milestone is more than an infrastructure achievement — it reflects the strategic direction Dubai is taking to enhance global mobility, unlock access to opportunity, and accelerate growth across our visitor and business economy.” Reinforcing this vision, he highlighted how visa facilitation serves as a crucial driver in attracting talent, promoting tourism, and fostering international partnerships. All these factors are vital for reinforcing Dubai’s position as the world’s most interconnected and future-ready city.

The operational capabilities of the new visa application centre are striking. The facility serves as a processing hub for 37 client governments, catering to applications from over 200 nationalities. Staffed by a team of more than 400 trained professionals from over 25 different nationalities, the centre is designed to provide personalized support that reflects Dubai’s multicultural identity and its ambitious vision.

Embracing advanced technologies, the centre integrates AI-powered systems to enhance customer experience significantly. Innovations such as real-time document validation, next-generation biometrics, QR code-based check-ins, and a smart queue management system streamline the application process. A dedicated AI Innovation Hub further drives efficient workflows, while a Digitization Centre converts paper records into secure digital formats, ensuring that data handling aligns with global best practices. The Global Resilience Center, operating round-the-clock, guarantees uninterrupted services and data protection for partner governments, thereby fostering trust and reliability in the visa processing ecosystem.

The centre’s design prioritizes visitor comfort and convenience, featuring intuitive navigation systems, touchscreen kiosks, and expansive waiting areas. Additionally, amenities such as prayer rooms, children’s play zones, and buggy transport services cater to diverse visitor needs. A remarkable aspect of the centre includes its Premium Lounge services, with 79 submission counters dedicated to offering enhanced privacy and comfort, and an exclusive Platinum Lounge offering luxury amenities, including chauffeur-driven transfers and comprehensive application assistance.

Moreover, the centre’s design reflects a commitment to environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles, featuring energy-efficient systems and inclusive infrastructure. Accessibility features accommodate elderly visitors and persons with disabilities, while collaborations with Emirati artists and entrepreneurs add rich cultural dimensions to the centre, blending modernity with tradition.

With outbound travel from the UAE on a consistent rise, the facility addresses the burgeoning demand for efficient visa processing services. It also aligns with the ‘We the UAE 2031’ vision, underlining the nation’s goals of fostering inclusive service delivery, as we transition into the ‘Year of Community 2025.’

“This facility is not just a visa centre,” affirmed Karkaria. “It’s a unified destination for smart, seamless, and secure travel services. It represents a new global standard for visa processing.” VFS Global’s long-standing relationship with the UAE, dating back to 2002 as the official visa services provider for Emirates Airlines passengers, culminates in this flagship facility opening, reinforcing its commitment to the nation’s stance as a global travel and innovation hub.

In summary, the Dubai Visa Application Centre stands as a transformative initiative that melds advanced technology with customer-centric processes, embodying Dubai’s ambition to lead in international connectivity, business travel, and tourism. By setting new benchmarks in visa processing, it is poised to reshape the global narrative regarding visa services and contribute significantly to the UAE’s remarkable growth trajectory.
