VFS Global Unveils World's Largest Visa Application Centre in Dubai: A New Era of Global Mobility

In a significant development for international travel and mobility, VFS Global has proudly inaugurated its flagship visa application centre located in the heart of Wafi City, Dubai. This landmark facility stands as the world’s largest of its kind, representing not merely an impressive infrastructure milestone but also a commitment to facilitating global movement for millions.

The grand opening was officiated by prominent figures including Helal Saeed Almarri, Director General of Dubai’s Department of Economy and Tourism; Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri, Director General of the General Directorate of Identity and Foreigners Affairs – Dubai; and Zubin Karkaria, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of VFS Global Group. Helal Saeed Almarri encapsulated the significance of the new centre, stating, “This milestone is more than just an infrastructure achievement — it reflects the strategic direction Dubai is taking to enhance global mobility, unlock opportunities, and accelerate growth across our visitor and business economy.”

Dubai is known for its landmark achievements and this latest endeavour is a testament to the emirate’s goals as outlined in the Dubai Economic Agenda D33, which aims to position the city as a leading global destination for business and tourism. The new visa application centre is essential in promoting talent attraction, tourism development, and international partnerships—all crucial components in maintaining Dubai’s status as a cosmopolitan hub.

The Director General of the General Directorate of Identity and Foreigners Affairs, Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri, added insights about the centre’s role in the UAE’s broader aspirations. “Today, we witnessed the inauguration of a new milestone in the UAE’s journey of excellence. Located in the heart of a city that constantly redefines innovation, this achievement reflects our wise leadership’s directives to reinforce the UAE’s position as a global hub for smart services and to set a benchmark in efficient, high-quality government services.”

Zubin Karkaria elaborated on the evolution of VFS Global over the past two decades in the UAE, sharing that their long-standing partnership with the nation has shaped their services and innovations. “Operating in the UAE since 2004, we have witnessed the UAE’s spectacular growth into a global hub for business, innovation, and technology. We are proud to launch the world’s largest visa application centre, serving over 200 nationalities.”

Spanning nearly 150,000 square feet, the state-of-the-art facility is designed with the contemporary traveller in mind. With the capability to process up to 10,000 visa applications per day, it is equipped to meet the rising demands of outbound travel and growing customer expectations focused on security, accessibility, and convenience. A highly trained workforce of over 400 personnel, representing more than 25 nationalities, ensures that the centre operates efficiently and effectively.

Among the standout features of the centre are tech-enabled self-service kiosks, secure document lockers, and photographic facilities, which cater to the needs of travellers who may require last-minute services. The facility also boasts a sophisticated queue management system that utilizes QR code-based check-ins and real-time updates to enhance the visitor experience.

Moreover, the centre acknowledges the importance of inclusivity and comfort. Among its amenities are dedicated prayer rooms, children’s play areas, and multiple zones for relaxation, alongside accessibility features specifically designed to accommodate seniors and individuals with disabilities.

With the increasing popularity of personalized services, the centre includes 79 Premium Lounge submission counters and is one of only two globally to offer an exclusive Platinum Lounge, which encompasses high-end features such as chauffeur services and end-to-end application support in a tranquil environment.

At the core of the centre’s operations lies a commitment to innovation and technology integration. The establishment includes an AI Innovation Hub to ensure efficient document validation and secure processing of applications, backed by a Global Resilience Center (GRC) that guarantees continuous operations and data security—a vital consideration in today’s digital landscape.

In alignment with the UAE’s ‘We the UAE 2031’ vision, the new Visa Application Centre not only sets a global benchmark for service excellence but also celebrates the rich tapestry of Dubai’s multicultural fabric by integrating Emirati cultural installations throughout its space. This remarkable facility embodies a vision for future travel that harmonizes advanced technology with local values, ensuring a seamless experience for all.

As VFS Global continues to enhance the visa application process, this new centre stands as a beacon of progress, signaling Dubai’s unwavering commitment to fostering an environment of secure, connected, and community-centric travel.
