ABU DHABI, 18th October, 2023 (WAM) – Dr. Anwar Gargash, Diplomatic Adviser to the UAE President, met with Patricia Scotland, Secretary-General of the Commonwealth, on the sidelines of her visit to the UAE.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed aspects of cooperation and ways to enhance them. They also touched on the upcoming 28th Conference of the Parties (COP28) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, which the UAE will host from November 30 to December 12, 2023.
Dr. Gargash emphasised the importance of COP28 in mobilising international efforts to combat climate change and its repercussions, and in finding concrete solutions to address this matter. He also indicated that the UAE will make every effort to make COP28 a pivotal stride in global climate action, to achieve the highest climate ambitions, and to promote sustainable economic and social development for the benefit of generations to come.
