Sino Jet Expands Horizons with Strategic eVTOL Procurement at AERO Asia 2025
Sino Jet, a prominent player in the business aviation sector, has taken a significant stride in its technological and operational evolution by signing a “definitive procurement contract” for 50 units of Aerofugia’s AE200 electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft. This landmark agreement was formalized during the AERO Asia 2025 event held in Zhuhai, China, showcasing Sino Jet’s commitment to innovations in air transportation.
The relationship between Sino Jet and Aerofugia has matured since the two companies entered into a letter of intent for the procurement of 100 eVTOLs in 2023. Their collaboration has transitioned from the early stages of joint product development to practical applications and infrastructure considerations, setting a new standard for the future of urban air mobility.
Li Yuanfeng, the group president of Sino Jet, remarked, “We are spearheading a fundamental paradigm shift in transportation methodologies.” This partnership, according to Yuanfeng, transcends traditional aircraft acquisition, focusing instead on the synergistic integration of long-haul operational excellence that characterizes business aviation with the adaptive, short-haul connectivity capabilities offered by eVTOL technology.
In line with this objective, Sino Jet intends to integrate its rigorous safety management framework into the operational design of the AE200. This initiative reflects the company’s commitment to maintaining high standards of airworthiness oversight and implementing robust Safety Management Systems (SMS). Furthermore, Sino Jet aims to leverage its extensive experience in personnel development, ensuring that all operators meet the stringent safety protocols traditionally associated with business aviation.
Infrastructure development represents another crucial pillar of Sino Jet’s strategic plan. The company is poised to construct eVTOL landing facilities in key commercial districts, a move that aligns with the industry’s growing demand for efficient air transport solutions. With a global network featuring over 20 Fixed Base Operator (FBO) locations, including major metropolitan areas such as Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong, and Shenzhen, as well as international hubs like Singapore, Dubai, and Tokyo, Sino Jet is well-positioned to facilitate the integration of eVTOLs into urban transit systems.
While the specific use cases for the AE200 have yet to be clearly defined, Sino Jet is actively engaging in discussions with potential customers to identify their needs. The company is exploring a range of operational scenarios that may include enhancing airport connectivity, enabling intercity transportation, and supporting cultural tourism initiatives. Such applications underscore a pivotal shift in how cities might adopt eVTOL technology to alleviate congestion and provide more efficient transport alternatives.
The AE200 eVTOL itself boasts impressive specifications, including a maximum cruising speed of 230 km/h (approximately 143 mph) and an operational range of 200 km (125 miles). These metrics not only position the AE200 as a formidable entrant in the eVTOL market but also highlight its potential to facilitate rapid, eco-friendly transport solutions in densely populated urban environments.
Yuanfeng concluded his remarks by emphasizing the broader implications of the procurement agreement: “The execution of this 50-unit firm order commitment represents a significant milestone in our strategic partnership with Aerofugia. Looking forward, regulatory framework advancement and infrastructure maturation will catalyze the accelerated development of a comprehensive low-altitude transportation network linking core commercial districts, transportation nodes, and integrated urban clusters.” His vision encapsulates a future where air mobility is not just a novel concept but an integral facet of daily urban life, improving accessibility and reducing travel times across the globe.
As Sino Jet embarks on this ambitious journey, it exemplifies the transformative potential of eVTOL technology within the aviation sector, setting a benchmark for future developments and partnerships that could redefine urban transportation. The commitment to both safety and innovation suggests that Sino Jet is not only responding to the demands of modern travel but also anticipating the needs of future generations as urbanization continues to evolve.
