Abu Dhabi Emerges as a Leader in Digital Governance with TAMM AI Assistant Finalist Nomination at WSIS Prizes 2025

Abu Dhabi – In a significant development that highlights its commitment to digital innovation, Abu Dhabi has captured international attention as the TAMM AI Assistant garners recognition as a top-five finalist in the E-Government (C7) category of the prestigious World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) Prizes 2025. This recognition underscores the capital’s advancing role in AI-driven governance and its increasing global footprint in the delivery of sophisticated public services.

The TAMM AI Assistant, a flagship initiative spearheaded by the Department of Government Enablement—Abu Dhabi (DGE), was officially launched in October 2024 as part of the ambitious Abu Dhabi Digital Strategy 2025–2027. The initiative aims to revitalize public service through advanced technological solutions, creating a more seamless user experience for residents and visitors alike. Since its inception, the AI assistant has engaged in over 630,000 conversations, exchanging more than one million messages while supporting a breadth of over 950 government services in both Arabic and English. Such impressive metrics reflect not only the assistant’s functionality but also its accessibility and acceptance among users.

His Excellency Ahmed Tamim Hisham Al Kuttab, Chairman of the DGE, articulated that the TAMM AI Assistant exemplifies “the best of what’s possible when we combine innovation with empathy, and technology with purpose.” Al Kuttab emphasized that the initiative is pivotal for cultivating a future-ready government—one adept at anticipating public needs, eradicating service friction, and designing a holistic and intuitive service experience.

Notably, the TAMM platform has successfully resolved 95 percent of user queries autonomously, which significantly frees human agents to tackle more complex service requirements. This efficiency within the system is indicative of a modeled approach towards improving government-citizen interactions, ensuring that the essentials of governance are addressed while providing quality service.

As part of an expansive digital transformation strategy, the DGE has set ambitious goals aiming to deploy 200 enterprise AI use cases by 2027, reshaping the landscape of government-citizen engagement. This initiative not only aligns with global standards for smart governance but also positions Abu Dhabi as a leader in the nascent domain of artificial intelligence in public administration.

His Excellency Dr. Mohamed Al Askar, Director General of TAMM, underscored the significance of this accolade, framing it as a “milestone for Abu Dhabi’s digital government agenda.” According to Dr. Al Askar, the recognition serves as a testament to the synergy achieved through innovation, data utilization, and collaborative efforts that ultimately serve society in a better capacity.

The WSIS Prizes celebrate outstanding global initiatives in Information Communication Technology (ICT) aimed at advancing the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The winners in 18 categories will be unveiled during a live ceremony in Geneva, Switzerland, on July 8, 2025. Significantly, the TAMM AI Assistant stands out as the sole nominee from the UAE for this year’s prestigious awards, underscoring the nation’s ongoing commitment to technological advancement.

Historically, the UAE has demonstrated a robust legacy at WSIS, with numerous winning entries since the program’s inception in 2012. Previous laureates have made strides in multifaceted domains, including cybersecurity, smart platforms, digital education, and public innovation. This context amplifies the importance of the TAMM AI Assistant’s recognition, which not only reflects a singular achievement but also contributes to the UAE’s broader image as a hub for innovation.

The impact of the TAMM AI Assistant on the lives of Abu Dhabi residents cannot be overstated. As government services become increasingly accessible, faster, and more user-friendly, this platform is not just a tool; it is becoming an integral part of daily life. The international acclaim directed towards the TAMM AI initiative serves to underscore Abu Dhabi’s emerging benchmark status in digital governance, illustrating the vital role of the DGE in cultivating a data-driven, AI-native government model.

As the world looks to models of effective governance in an increasingly digital age, Abu Dhabi stands at the forefront, inspiring cities globally through its unwavering commitment to integrate technology within public service frameworks that prioritize the citizen experience.
