Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority Implements Mandatory Vehicle Inspection Appointments to Enhance Efficiency

Dubai, UAE – Starting June 2, 2025, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) of Dubai will enforce a new policy mandating advance bookings for vehicle inspections at technical testing centres. This shift in protocol, designed to streamline operations and improve the customer experience, follows the success of a pilot program conducted over the past six months at the Tasjeel centres located in Al Qusais and Al Barsha, where waiting times were reduced by nearly fifty percent.
Under the new regulations, vehicle owners are required to make appointments through the RTA Dubai app or the official website (www.rta.ae). This digital initiative reflects a broader trend in the UAE towards the digitalization of government services, aiming to provide more efficient and effective solutions for residents and citizens alike.
For those who prefer the traditional walk-in method, a total of 19 centres will still accommodate these visits; however, patrons should note that opting for this service will incur an extra AED 100 service fee. This fee serves as a deterrent, encouraging individuals to embrace the more efficient pre-booking option.
The implementation of these pre-booking requirements will be further reinforced by the closure of walk-in service options at eight specific centres across the emirate. Vehicle inspections at these locations will be exclusively available through previously secured appointments. The centres affected include Wasel Arabian Centre, Nad Al Hamar, Shamil Al Adid, Al Muhaisnah, Al Mumayaz Vehicle Testing at Al Mizhar, and Tasjeel at Al Tawar and Al Mankhool.
The RTA has confirmed that these reforms aim not only to enhance the overall customer experience while mitigating congestion at testing centres but also to streamline the services offered by the 27 vehicle inspection centres throughout Dubai. Additionally, the Tasjeel Hatta centre will also remain exempt from the appointment requirement, allowing for continued access to vehicle inspection services in that area.
