Reminder issued for Glasgow Airport’s upcoming busiest summer season since 2019.

by Dubaiforum

This weekend, the bustling Glasgow Airport is expecting a surge of more than 150,000 passengers as the school summer holidays kick off. This increase in travelers is projected to continue in the coming weeks, with an average of 30,000 passengers passing through the airport daily, spread across over 240 flights.

The majority of these passengers are jetting off to popular sunshine destinations, including the Spanish Costas, the picturesque Canary and Balearic Islands, the charming Algarve in Portugal, Turkey, and the idyllic Greek islands. For those seeking long-haul adventures, flights to Dubai, Toronto, Orlando, and Cancun in Mexico have also been in high demand.

City-break enthusiasts from Glasgow are also gearing up for trips to vibrant destinations like Barcelona, historic Dubrovnik, romantic Paris, dynamic Amsterdam, timeless Rome, captivating Lisbon, charming Porto, and lively Dublin this summer.

To accommodate the influx of travelers, Glasgow Airport has bolstered its staff levels during peak times to provide crucial assistance and support to passengers navigating through the check-in and security processes. Ronald Leitch, the chief operating officer at AGS Airports, the entity that owns Glasgow Airport, commented, “The Scottish summer has been pretty underwhelming so far, and we anticipate that the airport will be busy over the next few weeks with passengers eager to seek some much-needed sunshine overseas. The upcoming weeks are set to be the busiest we have experienced since 2019.”

Leitch also advised passengers to arrive early for their designated check-in times as specified by their airlines. Stressing the importance of preparedness for security procedures, he highlighted that all liquids, gels, and pastes in hand luggage must be 100ml or less and presented in clear bags provided prior to security screening. Additionally, travelers should remove electrical items from their bags and lay them out alongside smaller items like keys, coins, watches, and phones to expedite the security screening process for a seamless start to their holiday.

In recent developments, Glasgow Airport has welcomed new retail and dining options, including city-based coffee connoisseurs Tinderbox and sandwich chain Pret A Manger. Additionally, a significant refurbishment of the Caledonia Bar has been completed, providing a fresh and inviting space for travelers to relax and unwind before their flights.

As travelers prepare to embark on their summer adventures from Glasgow Airport, the anticipation is high for memorable experiences and sun-filled getaways. With enhanced passenger services, upgraded amenities, and exciting destination choices, Glasgow Airport is well-equipped to ensure a smooth and enjoyable travel experience for all those passing through its gates this summer.
